More than 20 years helping public agencies work better.

I have spent more than two decades working with public agencies throughout Santa Barbara County — school districts, special districts, county departments, and state and local government partners. That work has required me to understand not only public finance, but the systems, operations, controls, and relationships that allow complex public organizations to function.

Early in my career, as an Accountant-Auditor with the Santa Barbara County Auditor-Controller’s office, I served as the Montecito Fire Protection District’s financial auditor. Since then, much of my career has involved fiscal oversight, advisory services, and building and running the financial systems that public services depend on. I led the countywide implementation of the Escape financial management system, which serves nearly every school district in Santa Barbara County — payroll, accounts payable, taxes, retirement reporting, budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and workflow, along with the daily integrations to the County Treasurer.

That kind of work demands more than technical knowledge. It takes planning, coordination, judgment, problem-solving, training, risk management, and the ability to bring multiple organizations together around a common solution.

Public Finance & Accountability

Extensive experience in governmental finance, budgeting, financial reporting, auditing, internal controls, compliance, and long-term fiscal planning. Since 2016 I have served on the Santa Barbara County Treasury Oversight Committee, which oversees a pooled public investment portfolio approaching $3 billion and helps ensure compliance, transparency, liquidity, and the protection of public funds.

Systems & Operational Leadership

I have led large-scale public-sector systems projects across school districts, spanning financial operations, payroll, reporting, workflow, integrations, controls, and training. I have also served as a Chief Business Official, with firsthand responsibility for the day-to-day operations of a school district. Together, these experiences give me a perspective from both the enterprise and operational levels — understanding how technology, people, policy, and processes must work together to deliver reliable public services.

Fiscal Oversight of Public Agencies

As District Financial Advisor at the Santa Barbara County Education Office, I monitor the fiscal health and solvency of school districts across the county — reviewing budgets and interim reports, evaluating fiscal indicators, identifying financial risk, and advising leadership through difficult decisions.

Strategic & Collaborative Leadership

My career has required close collaboration with elected officials, administrators, public agencies, and state and local partners. I bring a practical, solutions-oriented approach to complex problems and a working understanding of how public institutions make sustainable, accountable decisions.
