Experience ★ Stewardship ★ Safer Communities
The case for electing Jenelle Williams.
The Fire District’s most consequential decisions are financial and policy ones — what gets funded, what gets deferred, and whether the District can sustain the level of protection this community depends on. Experience and perspective that comes from a career working with governmental agencies will complement and strengthen the Board as it considers those decisions.
More than 20 years working across school districts, special districts, and county government in Santa Barbara County. As District Financial Advisor at the County Education Office, I monitor the fiscal health and solvency of districts across the county and advise their leadership through hard decisions. A fire district board faces the same kinds of documents and the same kinds of trade-offs.
I have spent much of my career building and running the systems public agencies depend on — leading the countywide implementation of the financial platform that handles payroll, accounts payable, reporting, and controls for nearly every school district in Santa Barbara County. That work is about far more than numbers: it is planning, controls, training, risk, and getting organizations to agree on a common solution.
My work has included auditing, fiscal oversight, reviewing debt and collective bargaining disclosures, and evaluating the financial implications of district plans and programs. Since 2016, I have also served on the Santa Barbara County Treasury Oversight Committee, where compliance, transparency, liquidity, and the protection of public funds are central responsibilities — the same standards I would apply to the Fire District.
Early in my career, as an auditor with the County Auditor-Controller’s office, I served as the Montecito Fire Protection District’s financial auditor. I was appointed to the Board in 2026 and am now asking voters to let me build upon the knowledge I have acquired and continue the work I have started.
Our firefighters and paramedics put themselves between this community and its worst days. They deserve the staffing, training, equipment, and facilities to do that safely. Responsible financial stewardship is what makes that support sustainable — year after year, not only when budgets are comfortable.
Residents fund this District and are entitled to understand how their money is used and why decisions are made. I support clear reporting, accessible information, and open discussion of the trade-offs behind every decision that comes before the Board.
“Prepared leadership for a safer Montecito.”Jenelle Williams
